25 Feb What Does Airbnb Plus Mean For You As An Airbnb Host?
So, Airbnb just rolled out a ton of new features! Pretty ingenious new features. I was just in L.A. a couple of days ago and spoke to an older couple(65+) that still prefer to stay at hotels.
I wasn’t surprised because some of the home offerings and services did not match their needs. They mentioned services like 24/7 concierge and check-in.
But, since Airbnb just release Airbnb Plus, which means that they are trying to push for that market. You see, that market has a bit more disposable income than your average guest who stays at your average home.
Regular Airbnb host?
Airbnb is pushing towards the luxury market because the margin is higher. At the end of the day, they are a business that needs to make money and lots of it.
I took a look at some of the requirements in order to qualify as a “Plus Home,” it’s a long-list of 100+ essentials. If you’re interested to take a look, head over to Airbnb. Some of the “essentials” are really easy to meet, while some are definitely harder.
What is also important to note is that you’ll need to pay for an in-person inspection. That fee is still unknown, but I read it’s somewhere between $150~250 dollars per property. The benefits that come with it are huge.
Hosts of Plus listings will receive higher placement in search results, in-home services, and additional customer support from Airbnb.
So, essentially, if you want to get consistent bookings, you’ll need to pay to play.
Pretty smart, eh?
What If my home is not set up primarily for guest’s use?
If you’re renting a spare room out, then I’m sorry to tell you that competition is only going to get worse…
But, if you’re already renting out your entire home, then be sure to take a look at their “Plus” essentials to see the areas that you can improve.
But then again, who knows when “Plus” will be rolled out globally?
